yes, we are IENE too

It's true. We are IENE inside.
Following last night's airing of the Iene's special on the brain-drain in Italy, we finally showed our true self. For the few that don't know IENE (Italian for hyenas), they are the investigative reporting news show.
When Lucci contacted us (via Loris Degioanni), it wasn't quite clear what kind of cut he wanted to give to the topic.
What highly controversial story did they want to build around us?
Truth being told, both Loris and I were quite apprehensive to be devoured by "the hyenas" we all grew up with.
Now, the day after, it's all clear.
The hundreds of emails, messages, facebook/linkedin connections we received within the few hours after the show, really made it clear.
We posted some of those on our blog on Corriere.
The truth is that in Italy there's a whole world in the 20-something generation (but not only) that today is in pain.
Their well expressed messages are a clear request for help: to have the opportunity to make a difference, to feel appreciated or, sometimes, just to express their dismay about their future.
Nothing to ask really, mostly the need to talk to "an entity" that could feel their pain.

For us, being identified with that role is not only flattering. It's our life juice. It's what gets us going. It's an honour and a privilege.
Thanks.

The GYM is open!

We initially announced it during the Venture Camp in Venice, and then earlier this year.
Now the Mind the Bridge Gymnasium is finally a reality!

Managed by 3 partners (Fabrizio Capobianco - Funambol, Matteo D'Aste - BAIA and myself), the idea is to offer a physical (and mental!) space in the heart of Silicon Valley to Italian startups with high growth potential.

We decided to host it within the Plug & Play tech center, one of the most established incubators in the valley with over 200 startups from multiple countries. They provide the physical space and visibility with investors, we provide hands-on services such as mentoring, regular business plan reviews and an opening to our personal networks to maximize the startup chances of success.
Today the GYM is a project under the umbrella of the Mind the Bridge foundation.
The first startups hosted in our offices in Redwood City are The Reliables and Eris 4, both finalists of the 08/09 business plan competition.
We are evaluating possible candidates on a regular basis but the bar to be invited is pretty high.

Here's a post and video from Fabrizio's blog (Silicon Valley Italia, in Italian).

MtB on Corriere.it

There's an interesting article today on Corriere.it talking about us.
Here's the link, and here's an excerpt.

I had the chance to spend several days with Marco Pratellesi (director of corriere.it) a few weeks ago, during his "Silicon Valley-strategy-trip" as he calls it. I have to chance to interact with several journalists for my job. Marco strikes me for his forward thinking that is making him a bit of an ousider in his industry.
